our values

As a purpose-driven business, Earth Angel is committed to leading by example and embodying our values. Below are the details of our commitments to being anti-racist and anti-bribery, which we will continue to add to and expand upon while we learn and uncover additional ways to practice ethical and intersectional business practices.

anti-racist

We at Earth Angel have the distinct privilege to be working in one of the most influential industries in the world - American media and entertainment. We also acknowledge the extractive and exploitative roots of American culture, which permeate both the field of entertainment and sustainability. It is long overdue that we address and transform them.

Sustainability means more than just doing good for our environment. The Triple Bottom Line in sustainability is “People, Profit, and Planet”. Our society has done a remarkable job prioritizing Profit, but neglected the other two: People and Planet.

We are acknowledging that the spotlighted leaders in the sustainability movement are majority white despite the fact that marginalized communities are already living a low-impact lifestyle out of necessity.

Looking through the lens of white privilege, being eco-friendly is often viewed as “trendy,” but through a BIPOC lens, it is about survival.

We are at a convergence of crises and none of which can wait. We must recover from this pandemic with a plan to root out systemic injustice while restoring ecological protection.

White people are leading a movement to solve something that disproportionately impacts non-white people, who may actually be more equipped to lead because of their first-hand experience. We must see the irony in this and reflect on our "white saviorism." Solving the climate crisis requires dismantling white supremacy. It is the same fight.

We at Earth Angel are also challenging the status quo. We do it every day in our sustainable production work and often meet resistance. That resistance usually exists because it requires one of the most uncomfortable things for human beings: admitting we were wrong. We simply cannot solve problems until we admit there is a problem, or that we haven’t done enough to address the problem.

So here goes the first step: Earth Angel hasn’t done enough to be anti-racist.

We cannot successfully fulfill our mission until our BIPOC, LBGTQ+ and differently abled brothers and sisters are safe from injustice and oppression because they too have a crucial role in overcoming these crises. They have the skills, ideas, energy and passion necessary to accelerate change.

The climate crisis is not a distant, remote threat, especially for the non-white people experiencing water scarcity, food shortages and pollution causing health problems for the past decade. It is here, happening now. And we need all hands on deck.

Below are our brand commitments to foster an entertainment industry that is not only sustainable, restorative and circular but also inclusive, equitable and intersectional.

“Currently, we demonstrate the ‘value’ of our work by the outcomes achieved. While many of us share a desire to protect our shared homelands, we often fail to consider what ‘values’ we are endorsing along the way.”
