Four Impactful Days at the Cannes Film Festival with TheGreenShot
We wrapped four days at Cannes with Max Hermans, Nathalie Idiart, Johanne Ide, and Céline Cauderlier representing TheGreenShot team, thanks to CST – Commission Supérieure Technique. Here are the highlights:
Day 1 - The pitch
Johanne got interviewed by Marc-Lionel Gatto from My Global Village and had one minute to explain GreenPro - our tool that automatically calculates carbon footprints for productions. She crushed it.
Day 2 - Industry talks and recognition
Max spoke at CanneS Prime Time about our work on Dalloway, La Danse des Renards, and Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest. La Danse des Renards won the SACD Authors’ Choice Award and the Europa Cinemas Label - that label actually provides resources to help European films reach audiences across the Europa Cinemas network.
Day 3 - Green tech conversations
The Austrian Pavilion hosted “Green Filming Future Now,” bringing together European sustainability experts in audiovisual. Key insights: Europe is building unified green standards while preserving national approaches, Green Consultants are becoming essential, and green storytelling needs to be part of the narrative strategy.
The landscape across Europe is evolving fast. Germany requires ecological criteria for publicly funded films, Nordic countries are adopting similar models, Croatia is innovating with material reuse due to budget constraints, and the UK is expanding studio capacity while partnering with Albert on sustainability.
We connected with Alissa Aubenque from EcoProd at the Eco Hub. Their Carbon Clap calculator API is already integrated into our platform - exactly the kind of tech collaboration that creates real impact.
Max also pitched GreenPro to 60+ international producers at the Creative Europe MEDIA pavilion, demonstrating how our solution helps productions calculate and manage their carbon footprint.
We attended the “Mon Film Dans Un Camion” competition finale at La Maison du Film, showcasing emerging filmmakers.
Day 4 - Recognition
Johanne pitched TheGreenShot at Tech4Movies and we took 3rd place - the only European company recognized alongside winners from the USA and Japan.
Four days of solid conversations and one clear conclusion: sustainable filmmaking is advancing through collaboration across Europe and beyond. The best part was getting to talk directly with film technicians about what they actually need to make productions more sustainable.
